  Venue:

The summer school will be held at University College London, one of the world's top-ten universities. Participants will benefit from being located in the heart of Bloomsbury, London's academic quarter.

Besides being based in the Institute of Archaeology, which physically adjoins the Department of Anthropology, other nearby attractions include the British Museum and Petrie Museum of Egyptology, while the Science Museum, Natural History Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum are all accessible by underground train. In addition, many of London's premier West End shopping and entertainment destinations are within walking distance of Bloomsbury.

Lectures will be held on the sixth floor of the Institute of Archaeology, 31-34 Gordon Square, London.

Practical classes will be held in a computer laboratory on the second floor of the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment. This is conveniently located very close to the Institute of Archaeology. The computer laboratory will available be for exclusive use of participants for the duration of the summer school and houses 16 new Apple Macintosh Pro workstations running the latest Leopard operating system. Specialist software such as MacClade and PAUP will be installed for the summer school.

Participants will be able to access the internet from the computer lab. Those who bring their own wireless-enabled laptops will need to install software (we can provide) in order to connect to the UCL wireless network. Wireless connectivity is available throughout the Institute of Archaeology.
