I am interested in the role of prestige goods in the formation of sociopolitical hierarchy. I conduct fieldwork on this topic in the Lake Titicaca Basin, south-central Andean highlands of Peru, in South America, working with the Qaluyu and Pukara archaeological cultures.
More generally, I am interesting in developing evolutionary theory to explain the appearance and development of social institutions.
